Cooper8 Ltd were involved in the design and planning of the new beach shop including developing a unique central feature pendant that reflected the bubbles of the sea and adds to the playful environment of the shop.
Design Brief
The retail environment represented a departure from the generic fixtures and look and feel that have served the Trust shops well .The need was to create a look and feel that reflected the locality of the beach and surrounding nature reserve and we worked as a team to pool our creative ideas.
Design Sketches
We worked together with the Client and shopfitter to create beach hut type fixtures, rough sawn and washed in blues and whites crowned with coloured flags. The changing rooms was changed into a beach hut style. Link chain and hooks were used to display buckets. Old rum barrels were made mobile, painted and used outside and in as displays. We sketch detailed these as ideas before moving onto more detailed drawings.
Technical Drawings
We provided the necessary CAD Technical Drawings with Elevation details to ensure designs were interpreted correctly and could be accurately costed.
Site Visits and 'Mock –Ups'
The co-ordination on site needed close attention to ensure the Main Contractor provided the necessary services and data, prepared the site on time and was able to hang the feature pendants. We arranged site visits to the shopfitter to assess progress and sign off the fixture prototypes with the Client.
Lighting
As well as designing, mocking-up and supplying the feature pendants we provided a layout and photometric using 'LED' lighting that was a first in a retail environment for the National Trust in terms of offering the necessary 'lux' levels and warmth of colour that the Trust retail environment requires.
Project Management
The project was managed successfully to completion and handover on time and within budget and received a warm welcome from its customers.
